Mr Richard Peckham
Peckham is a specialist in dry bulk trade, transport and handling research. His activities in this sector date back more than 30 years as: · Deputy Editor of the cargo handling journal Cargo Systems International (1977) · Founder Editor of sister-publication Bulk Systems International (1978) · In 1980, Founder/Owner and Editorial Director of International Bulk Journal (IBJ) As Editorial Director and Joint Managing Director Peckham was responsible for the development of the comprehensive research and publications programme of a journal that was rapidly recognised for the depth, topicality and accuracy of its research. From 1994 through to its sale in 1995 he was also Financial Director. Peckham established SPH to continue research work, especially in dry bulk and related sectors of the maritime community. The International Dry Bulk Terminals Group (DBTG) was established at end-1998 and provides an effective forum and voice for a global, but highly fragmented, industry that is of critical importance to the seaborne trade and transportation of dry bulk commodities. DBTG is a not-for-profit society open to all owners/operators of dry bulk terminals world-wide. DBTG is unique and its membership has grown year on year. Today its members operate more than 200 bulk terminals world-wide ranging in throughput capacities from less than 1mta to the largest facilities handling well over 50mta; in some cases much more. Since foundation DBTG has developed into a community where members freely exchange ideas and concerns, experience and expertise on issues such as operational safety and efficiency, performance benchmarking, technical analysis and innovation, environmental matters, operator training, as well as maritime security. In all these matters DBTG's work programme includes initiatives of regional and global relevance. Ms Lisarain Yu Jiang Senior Consultant, Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd
Lisarain Yu Jiang joined Drewry in 2002. She has worked with a number of shipping industry players and financial institutions to whom she has advised the feasibility of investing in shipping assets, shipyards and terminals. She has a particularly strong grounding in financial modelling and market research. Lisarain holds a BSc in Computer Science from China and an MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance from CASS Business School in London. Mr Sakari Kajander
Sakari Kajander is the head of research and consulting services at the Centre for Maritime Studies. Since 1999, his research work at the CMS has included R&D projects on maritime transport and maritime/port related logistics, commissioned by private enterprises and public sector organizations on regional, national and EU-level. After graduating in naval architecture and marine engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1974 he worked at Valmet and Wärtsilä Shipyards in Helsinki and Turku dealing with hydrodynamics, model tests, ice-going ships, project designs as well as sales and marketing. Since 1985 Mr Kanerva has worked for consulting and engineering companies responsible for R&D, project design, business development and sales and marketing. He has been involved in developing new ship concepts and machinery configurations for several shipowners for ferries, cruise ships, tankers and ro-ro ships. Safety aspect has been one of the leading themes throughout his work. He has also been involved on several yard evaluations and in projects for improving yard processes. Mr John Vanezos
A graduate for Newcastle University in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding and with post graduate studies in Ship Production technology form University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. In early part of the career worked in the offshore industry both in the design and construction of various offshore structures at shipyards in Scotland. This was followed by moved to a naval yard in UK designing and building of submarines and surface vessels for the Royal Navy. In early nineties joined Lloyd’s Register. Initially involved in design development, technical investigations, plan appraisal using analytical tools in a specialist group before promoted to head of Hull plan approval section for Tankers and Bulk Carriers. In 2004 John was seconded to P.R. China as Marine Client Technical Advisor and trainer for new construction. Since returning to London office at the beginning of 2010 John’s role is as Global Marine Business Segment Manager for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers in EU. Mr John Konkola Marine Risk Manager, Neste Oil Oyj Mr George Politakis LL.M, Ph.D., Senior Legal Officer, Coordinator of Maritime Team, International Labour Standards Department, ILO George Politakis is a Senior Legal Specialist with the International Labour Standards Department of the International Labour Office and Coordinator of the Maritime Team. He holds a Law degree from the University of Athens, a LL.M. from the London School of Economics and a Ph.D from the University of Geneva. Mr Olli Tuomisto

Janne Suominen graduated in naval architecture and mechanical engineering from the Turku University of Applied Sciences 1996. Having worked on MacGregor products and solutions for 15 years, he was appointed (2010) as Product Manager for new MacGregor products in Dry Cargo business line of Cargotec's Marine business area. His main responsibility is to steer product engineers when launching new products and to collect valuable feedback from shipyards and shipowners throughout the marine segment. |
